Pet vaccinations
Courses for puppies and kittens, annual boosters, and rabies certification. On this coast the cold chain behind the vaccine matters as much as the injection.

The schedule is the same across Kenya. What is different on this coast is everything that happens to the vaccine before it reaches your animal.
Vaccines are biological products that have to stay within a narrow temperature band from importer to injection. Break that and they still look normal, still inject normally, and protect against nothing. You cannot tell by looking, and neither can we. The only defence is a chain someone is accountable for.
The coast strains that chain harder than anywhere in Kenya: hotter ambient temperatures, longer distance from Nairobi importers, and less reliable power for the fridge at the end of it. So those are fair questions to ask us, and to ask anyone else. Where does it come from, how is the fridge monitored, what happens in an outage.
For home visits we carry vaccine in a cool box with packs. If your dog is being vaccinated at your gate out of a bag on a hot afternoon, that is worth questioning.
We also prefer morning appointments here for a clinical reason rather than convenience. An animal already heat-stressed is harder to examine and should not be vaccinated that day.
What is included
- Vaccine stored and transported under refrigeration we can account for, which on this coast is the part that decides whether it works
- A health check first, because vaccinating a heat-stressed animal is poor practice
- Product name and batch written on your card, not just a tick
- Rabies certificate signed by a registered veterinary surgeon
- Weight recorded for the deworming that runs alongside

Indicative market ranges for Kenya, reviewed 2026-08-29. This is not a quotation. Prices vary with your pet’s weight, the brand of vaccine or drug used, and whether the visit is at a clinic or at your home. Ask for a figure before treatment starts, any vet should give you one.
Common questions
How do you keep vaccine cold on a home visit?
In a cool box with packs, checked before we set off. Ask any vet this before a coastal home visit. A vaccine that has ridden in a hot car is still an injection and no longer a vaccination.
Can we book a morning slot?
Yes, and we prefer it here. A puppy that has been sitting in afternoon coastal heat is harder to examine properly and should not really be vaccinated that day.
